Why CEEPUS

Why CEEPUS is often the simplest way to study or teach abroad in Central Europe.
Online application
The whole process runs through the central CEEPUS portal — one account, one form, no paper originals sent by post.
Scholarship
The host country pays the scholarship in local currency at a rate set to cover accommodation, food and basic living costs on site.
Recognition of study
Mobilities are planned with a Learning Agreement, and credits earned at the host university are recognised in ECTS at home.
Academic degrees
Joint supervision, data collection and dissertation research abroad are explicitly supported, including for doctoral candidates.
Support of practical training
Laboratory work, robotics and 3D-printing workshops and other hands-on training at the host department count as part of the mobility.
Freemover status
Even if your home university is not a member of the network, you can apply as a freemover for the remaining places.
The programme
About the programme
CEEPUS — the Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies — is a multilateral agreement between Central and South-Eastern European countries supporting university cooperation through academic networks. It has run since 1995 and is funded from the national budgets of the member countries.
Unlike bilateral schemes, CEEPUS is built around thematic networks. A network is a group of university departments that share a research and teaching focus and receive a joint mobility quota for each academic year. Students and academic staff then apply for places within that quota.
This site belongs to the network led by the Department of Technical Education and Information Technology, Faculty of Education, Palacký University Olomouc. Our shared theme is the development of computational thinking — algorithmic thinking, programming, and the digital technologies that support them in education and in engineering practice.

Eligibility
For whom?
CEEPUS is open to students and academic staff of public higher education institutions in the member countries.
Bachelor's students
From the end of the second semester onwards. Typically a semester stay or a short-term mobility linked to a project or a thesis.
Min. 2 completed semestersMaster's students
Semester stays, short-term research visits, and stays for thesis data collection or laboratory work at a partner department.
Any semesterDoctoral candidates
Research stays, joint supervision, access to host laboratories and equipment, and co-authored publications with the host team.
Any year of studyAcademic staff
Teaching mobilities from 5 days upwards. A minimum of 6 taught hours per week is required at the host institution.

Semester stay
A full study period at a partner university with courses agreed in advance in a Learning Agreement and recognised in ECTS on return.
3–10 months · StudentsShort-term mobility
A focused stay for thesis work, laboratory access, data collection or a practical training block. Ideal when a full semester is not feasible.
1–2 months · StudentsTeacher mobility
Teaching at the host department, with at least 6 hours of instruction per week, often combined with joint research and network meetings.

Application
How to apply
All applications are submitted through the central CEEPUS portal. Register once, then apply to our network for the semester you want.
Create an account
Register at www.ceepus.info and complete your personal profile. Use your institutional e-mail address.
Choose the network and host
Select network CIII-CZ-1503 and the partner department you want to visit. Contact the local coordinator of that department in advance — it makes acceptance considerably easier.
Prepare your documents
Two recommendation letters, a motivation letter, a transcript of records and your planned Learning Agreement. Staff applicants submit a teaching plan instead.
Submit before the deadline
Applications are ranked by the network, then confirmed by the National CEEPUS Offices of the sending and receiving countries.
Arrange the practicalities
After the Letter of Acceptance arrives, sort out accommodation, insurance and — where relevant — a visa or residence registration.
Requirements can differ slightly by host country. Always check with the coordinator at the receiving department before you submit.

Deadlines are set centrally by the CEEPUS programme and are the same in all member countries. Freemover deadlines are later and are announced once the network quota is confirmed.
